If in the primary I would look at adjuster issues, chain too loose can slap around and make a rattling noise a chain too tight can eat bearings and based on heat and expansion the noise could change as the bike warms up. T. WebMay 27, 2024 · Thanks. Roll the motor through and find the tight spot in the chain, mark the on the comp with a reference mark on the primary case edge. Then turn it 180 and that should be your loose spot in the chain. Now roll it through and watch the tensioner as it goes tight to loose to tight.

The main tensioner has a small hole in it, and the piston itself has a deep groove near the end of the piston.
